Opportunity for all aged 9-14 to travel to an academy


Greetings from the Board, Albany United Football Club have been offered an exciting opportunity to take 32 players to a training camp to be held at the FC Barcelona Academy. Attached is a flyer that we have been given to use to promote this opportunity.

Please indicate your interest by emailing director@albanyunited.org and we will touch base with you. Please send through your child’s name, date of birth, contact details, grade they played in 2017 and mention you’d like to know more about the trip to the Barcelona Academy. This is a fantastic opportunity for players to experience what it's like to be a professional footballer and what professional footballers do as normal. Information on the trip:

  • The trip is being organised by Business of Football in conjunction with the FC Barcelona Academy and Business of Football, who is working directly with our Director of Football

  • The purpose of this trip is to show players of 9 to 15 years old what it is like to be a professional footballer in a professional environment

  • It’s a 5 day training camp being held in Barcelona from the 9th to the 13th of July 2018

  • Sessions will be taken by UEFA Pro Coaches and FC Barcelona Academy Coaches

  • Individual player assessments and a chance to play against Spanish opposition

  • Tour of FC Barcelona’s Camp Nou

  • Small tour of Barcelona’s well known spots

What is being supplied and organised?

  • Coaching/Training/Games

What is the cost? Business of Football and our Director of Football have negotiated a 50% reduction of cost per player through sponsors and partners. Normally the charge for a trip and coaching like this is stationed in the region of $10-$12k per player if you are provided the opportunity. The concept is the players arrive at the airport with their personal luggage, boots and shinpads (anything else football needed), travel documents and are ready to travel, jump on the plane and everything is sorted for them. They are treated, trained and experience life as a professional footballer while also being exposed to some of the best coaching in the world. This is an opportunity we don’t believe should be missed and our Director of Football is working on solidifying this to be a regular feature on our calendar. Two trips have already been arranged and will be undertaken before our advertised July trip, in December 2017 and January 2018. The opportunity has been pounced on by another club, working with the Business of Football in Australia, who have taken both the December 2017 and January 2018 spots acquired. The July trip in 2018 has been earmarked for NZ, so we are urging people to take the opportunity. Get in touch if you aren’t able to be there for the information evening.
